It had been a few games since Chris Van Os-Shaw had scored for the Broncos but he broke out of that slump in a big way Saturday night.

The former Weyburn Red Wing scorched his former team for two goals and a pair of assists in Humboldt's 7-2 romp of the Wings at the Elgar Petersen Arena.

The 19 year-old Regina product opened the scoring early in the first, then he added the winner halfway through the second frame.

Line mate Trevor Posch had two assists, their new centreman Brayden Camrud added an assist. Van Os-Shaw says they are starting to click with the rookie who has been bumped to the line due to the injury to Logan Schatz.

"It's good, we're starting to get chemistry with Camrud now, it's tough to lose Schatz but we're starting to keep the train rolling with our line and putting points on the board."

Daniel McKitrick scored his seventh and eighth goals of the season, he added an assist. Parker Wakaruk, Logan Boulet and Nic Malenica also contributed offence. Connor Swystun added three helpers from the blueline. The Broncos have scored a league best 38 goals in eight games to start the year. They are now 7-1 on the campaign.

Van Os-Shaw is excited with the start they have put together.

"It feels unreal, last year was a battle but the boys stuck with it and we've got our veterans stepping up this year."

A 34 save performance from Garrett Mason earned him his fifth win of the season in Humboldt's net. Nathan Hargrave gave up six on 25 Bronco chances, Shaun Fleming turned aside 17/18 in relief.

In a game which featured just five power-plays, the Broncos were 1/3, Weyburn was 1/2.

Elsewhere in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League on Saturday, Melfort had just seven shots in a 4-0 loss versus the Battlefords, Notre Dame downed Yorkton 4-1, Nipawin outscored LaRonge 6-2 and Flin Flon blanked the Millionaires 2-0.

The Broncos play host to LaRonge on Tuesday. Face-off is 7:30.
