A veteran sniper, seasoned puck stopper and two green rookies helped lead the Broncos to a big come from behind win Friday night in Flin Flon.

After an opening period of no scoring and plenty of Flin Flon pressure it was the visitors that would draw first blood in the middle period. Freshman 18 year-old Andrew Thompson gave the Broncos the lead at the 7:48 mark of period two converting a broken three-on-one rush after Corey Dambrauskas jumped out of the penalty box. That was the Lethbridge product's first regular season tally, he had three in the preseason. Dambrauskas was credited with the lone assist.

The Bombers responded to take the lead heading into the final break, Nick Shumlanski and Curtis Roach scored to give the Bombers a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

The green and gold would not go without a fight at the Whitney Forum. Connor Kortko scored the next two goals, both assisted by his linemates Trevor Posch and Josh Roberts. The 20 year-old Saskatoon native deflected a Roberts' pass with one hand on his stick to tie the contest at 3:25 or the third followed by him zipping a shot past Zac Robidoux after Posch found him open in the slot.

Assistant Coach Brayden Klimosko said on the post game show of KMK Sales Broncos' hockey that it was great to see Kortko break out.

"It was nice to see him score two big goals there and you could tell after that his confidence is a lot higher now so hopefully that builds a little bit, it was nice to see."

The home side would bounce back however in the up and down affair, Brandon Switzer redirected a Roach point shot while on the power play knotting the game at 3-3 with just under five minutes to go.

Cue the heroics of 19 year-old Jace Pesch. Just after a Broncos' late power play ended the East Grand Forks, Minnesota resident went to the net eventually jamming the puck past Robidoux to give Humboldt the 4-3 lead for good.

"Daniel(Mckitrick) made a nice place around the net," he explained after the game. "I kind of kept whacking at it until a couple guys and the puck ended up going into the net."

Despite the late goal and the credit of the winner Pesch added it was a team effort and they knew they needed more going into the third down a goal.

"We knew we had to show up in the third to get the win, it wasn't going to take just one guy or two guys, it had to be a whole team effort."

The Broncos second win also needed good goal tending and they got that, Brett Clark was spectacular making 38/40 stops for his second win of the season.

Special teams, like the shot clock(40-20) didn't favour Humboldt, the Broncos were a dismal 0/7 with the man advantage, the Bombers clicked at 2/6 on the power play.

Humboldt's road swing stops in LaRonge Saturday night, puck drop is 7 o'clock, the pre-game show on 107.5 Bolt FM is slated for 6:46.
