For the First time since 2012, the city of Humboldt will be hosting the Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts.

From January 22nd to the 27th, the tournament takes place at the Humboldt curling rink. The best nine women curling teams in Saskatchewan will be looking to slide their way to first place.

The winning team of the tournament will represent Saskatchewan in the national competition, known as the Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The national tournament is in Sydney, Nova Scotia during the month of February.

The Viterra Scotties Tournament of Hearts coming in 2019 will also help benefit the community of Humboldt by promoting businesses and putting the city on the map stated Joy Agnew, outgoing chair of the organizing committee of the tournament.

"It's always a big event and it's tremendous curling because it's the top women's teams in the province and Humboldt is a great curling community and they always come out to events like this so it will be a great event for everybody," Agnew said.

Passes are available in at the curling club. The passes can be bought at the door or in advance as event passes are $70 and day passes are $20.
