Wadena Composite's girls curling team is off to high school provincials.

Competing at regionals in Foam Lake, the team defeated the host Panthers twice to move on to provincials.

They posted wins of 12-5 and 8-4 over Nipawin and Arborfield before knocking off Foam Lake 7-5 in the 'A' final.

The two teams matched up once again in the championship game after Foam Lake bounced back through the 'B' side.

Wadena took the final 7-3 to join provincial host Ituna as the two teams moving on.

In boys play, the HCI Mohawks had two opportunities to find their way to provincials, but came up just short of an appearance.

They found themselves in the 'A' final after wins over Saskatoon and Carrot River, but fell 9-3 to Saskatoon Holy Cross.

Their last shot to qualify came against Prince Albert St. Mary, where they lost 7-4 to see their season end.

In mixed play, Lanigan lost 8-5 to Melfort in the 'B' final to come up short of a provincial appearance as well.

Provincials take place March 9-10 in Ituna for girls, Spiritwood for boys, and Rosetown for mixed teams.
