Broncos graduating defenseman Parker Wakaruk has committed to Selkirk College in the British Columbia Intercollegiate Hockey League for next season.

Wakaruk, from Lethbridge came to the Broncos for his 20 year-old season and played every game scoring four times and adding 10 assists.

He said he's excited for the opportunity.

"I wanted to keep playing hockey and Selkirk gave me the opportunity to go play there so I capitalized on that. Now I am going to get a little education as well and hopefully have some fun and figure out a little bit of a career plan."

He tells us this was his goal when he first began his junior "A" career.

"Absolutely, it's most guys goals playing hockey, you want to keep going to the next level and see where it takes you and hopefully get some education as well. Ideally this is a big step for me so hopefully I keep moving forward with it."

He will join another former Bronco blueliner, Ashton McLeod on the Saints defence core.

Wakaruk was acquired in the past off season from the Alberta Junior Hockey League's Grande Prairie Storm.
