The definition of a warrior is an experienced or brave fighter, and one Wakaw Warrior has fought his way to the CJFL.

Jack Bellefontaine, a defensive back and receiver for the Wakaw Warriors, was signed by the Kamloops Broncos on June 1.

"I was pretty pumped especially when they told me they wanted me to sign so I'm really looking forward to it," Bellefontaine stated.

On defense in his Grade 12 year, Bellefontaine registered 37 tackles, 3 interceptions, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery, and a touchdown. As for his offensive performance, number 15 raked in 37 catches for 1113 yards, had 15 carries for 308 yards and 21 touchdowns. After playing for the Warriors for six years, he wrapped up his high school football career with Senior Bowl in May and will play for Team Canada in the Can-Am Bowl on July 6th.

"It feels good to be one of the first guys from Wakaw (to get to that second level). Hopefully, I can put Wakaw on the map and give future players on the Warriors confidence to move on as well."

Bellefontaine has learned a lot over the last year taking part in camps and working hard in the offseason. The Warriors all-star will look to bring what he's learned to the Broncos' defense while learning even more by taking part in the first camp on July 14th.

"I'm going to go out there, learn as much as I can from the coaches and the other players, and just hopefully pick it up as fast as I can and get there to play some football," said the newest member of the Kamloops Broncos.
