It was a battle of maroon and green for the Six-man 2A Provincial Football Championship.

The Wakaw Warriors and the Clavet Cougars went head to head on November 10th at 1 PM at Wakaw School for the championship.

In the start the Warriors jumped in front with a 12-0 lead after two touchdowns from Tight End, Cole Smith. Clavet answered back in the last 5 minutes of the first quarter with two touchdowns of their own and taking the lead 16-12 after the 2 point converts.

Quarter two was a punch for punch 12 minutes as the Warriors scored 3 more touchdowns, including another from Cole Smith. The Cougars were held to two touchdowns and the Warriors won the half with a score of 34-32.

With Wakaw leading heading into the second half, Clavet made some adjustments that worked to perfection. The Cougars brought the heat from the defensive line and forced Wakaw into 2nd and long situations. They also shutout the Warriors through the final two quarters of play. The passing game also played a factor for Clavet as they added three more touchdowns through the third and fourth quarters.

The final was 56-34 for Clavet after a full four quarters of play. Despite the loss for Wakaw, the team reached new heights as the warriors haven't taken part in a Provincial Final since 2000.

2018 for the Warriors will still go down in history as one of their best seasons ever in the team's existance.
