The Midget AA Broncos were back at home for a pair of games on Saturday and Sunday.

On Saturday, they welcomed the Saskatoon Sabercats to the Elgar Petersen Arena.

Humboldt got on the board first on a powerplay goal late in the first period when Brett Simpson found the back of the net.

The second period would see Saskatoon score three goals with Simpson adding one for Humboldt as the Broncos trailed 3-2 through two periods.

Saskatoon took a 4-2 lead midway through the third, with Hunter Edmonds bringing the home team back to within a goal with 2:50 remaining.

The Broncos were unable to tie the game, falling 4-3.

Sunday's game saw Humboldt score seven powerplay goals while skating to an 11-5 win over the Beardy's Blackhawks.

It was Beardy's who took the early momentum, grabbing a 3-1 lead with five minutes left in the opening period.

Edmonds scored to make it 3-2 to close out the opening period.

After Beardy's made it 4-2 early in the second, the Broncos rattled off five straight goals - one from Edmonds and two each from Damon Vanderlinde and Kody Perlett to take a 7-4 lead through 40 minutes.

A similar situation occurred in the third period, as Beardy's scored the first goal before Humboldt put home four straight to end the game.

Perlett had a hat trick for Humboldt, while Skylar Wallin, Kade Vipond and Brock Morrow added the other tallies.

Goaltender Dawson Cochrane improved his record to 7-1 while making 37 saves.

Humboldt, tied for second in the league, host Meadow Lake on Saturday, and then welcomes North East on December 21 to wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule.
