Another Win for Wynyard.

The Golden Bears 2A 6 man football team traveled to Assiniboia Thursday, Oct 4 and came away with a 27-20 victory. Despite a snow-covered field that was wet and very sloppy, Wynyard opened the scoring 8-0 on the opening drive. .Turnovers on downs were a common outcome in the game with twelve in total. As teams were slipping and sliding around the field, Assiniboia would end up pinning Wynyard inside their own 5-yard line, forcing them to punt with less than a minute in the first half. The punt was returned 30 yards to the house giving Assiniboia 14 8 halftime lead.

Wynyard replied in the third with two straight TDs with no converts to lead 20-14. Assiniboia quickly answered with one of thier own that would tie the game at 20 heading into the 4th.

In the 4th, Wynyard would complete a crucial drive with 6 minutes left providing Wynyard with a 27-20 lead. The smaller defense of Wynard managed to hold Assiniboia off the score sheet allowing Wynyard to escape with the victory through some tough conditions.

Wynard now holds a record of 3-1.

The next step for Wynyard will be a game at home against Watrous on October 9th, in a contest that holds huge playoff significance.
