The 2A 6-Man Football Provincial Championship took place Saturday at George Lamb field in Wynyard.

The exciting game began with a Michael Shewchuk touchdown, to open the scoring.

After a kickoff single from Wynyard, Hanley's Quarterback Conor Pros-off-sky ran in a score, extra point no good, 9-6 Wynyard.

Rylan Sokul , Wynyard's QB, pounded the ground for his first touchdown of the game, with the extra points, it was 17-6 for the hometown Bears.

Hanley answered back with 4 straight touchdowns; two from Profosky, one from Hanley's Marshall Profosky, and another from Wyatt Olyniuk.

After the scoring, the board read 36-17 in favour of the visitors.

Sokul answered back with a touchdown run of his own, bringing the game within 11 points.

But Hanley's throwing game was too strong for the Wynyard defence, as Colten Olyniuk caught a pass from Prosofsky, making it 44-25.

Michael Shewchuk came alive at that moment, scoring 2 straight touchdowns for the home side, making it a 44-39 game.

But then Colten Olyniuk scored his second of the game, quieting the home fans, and the Sabres cracked 50.

Michael Shewchuk ran wild for his 4th touchdown of the game, giving the Bears life, but the missed extra point made the game a 52-45 contest.

Marshall Prosofsky caught another touchdown pass from his brother Conor, and the extra points were good.

Wynyard did come back in the 4th quarter, with 2 straight touchdowns, one from Sokul and one from Shewchuk, his 5th of the game, and the Bears held a 1 point lead.

But the Sabres offence was just too much, a late field goal and a late touchdown pass from Conor Prosofsky, and the game ended in a 69-61 final.

This was the first time Wynyard has hosted a Provincial final since 1969, and with the talent that remains for next year for the Bears, there's no doubt they can have a solid shot at doing it again next year.
