The regular season has wrapped up in Conference 3 of 2A 6-man high school football.

The conference, which features Wynyard, Watrous, and Lanigan, saw the Bears go 5-0 to finish first overall.

In their most recent game, Wynyard defeated Davidson 74-24 behind a strong rushing attack that saw quarterback Rylan Sokul run for over 200 yards.

Wynyard added 263 more yards through the air, with four touchdown passes to Tristan Bergquist, Ryan Tarry, and Jackson Karakochuk.

A highlight of the Bears regular season was a comeback win over Watrous, which saw them trail by two touchdowns with five minutes to play.

The Bears wound up winning the game 60-59, which helped cement their spot at the top of the conference.

They, along with Watrous, who finished second, receive byes in the first round of playoffs, which take place on October 14.

Lanigan will host Davidson, while Preeceville welcomes Assiniboia.

On October 21, Wynyard hosts the lowest seeded team remaining, while Watrous will be at home to the highest remaining seed.

The two winners of those games then enter the provincial playoff bracket, which begins with quarterfinals on October 28.

The home playoff game for the Bears will also serve as their annual tackle hunger drive. They are encouraging fans to bring non-perishable food items to the game, with paid admission being added to all donations received as well.

At halftime, the Bears will be drawing the winner of their progressive 50-50 sale, which is expected to be around $3,000.

The season for Watrous saw them finish with a record of four wins and one loss.

They defeated Assiniboia 60-18, Lanigan 48-28, Davidson 55-12, and most recently downed Preeceville 36-14, with the one loss coming to Wynyard.

For Lanigan, they began the season losing three straight games, falling to Davidson 46-36, Watrous 48-28, and Wynyard 57-46.

The Lazers, however, enter the playoffs on a winning streak, having defeated Preeceville 22-18, and Assiniboia 44-14.
