The 2018 year has come and gone, and that means we are to look back at the events that shaped the past year for local businesses and organizations, and what is in the works for 2019.

The City of Humboldt was busy, to say the least, this past year, with some challenges facing the organization.

Rob Muench, Mayor of Humboldt, talked about how the April 6th crash was a testing time for the entire community.

"I think our year went okay, despite the challenges with the situation in the spring I feel we did a good job to not only handle that with due diligence but also do our regularly scheduled jobs as well," stated Muench.

He also noted that their approaches towards failing street pavement, as well as unpleasant smells from near-by lagoons, was met with generally positive public feedback.

Muench also talked about their upcoming year, and the many busy tasks ahead.

"Well, for 2019 we are looking at about a 2 million dollar infrastructure funding program, which was tough to put in place with the 2% tax increase, but all got sorted out in the end."

The City of Humboldt has also started putting money away for future infrastructure and community projects, to remain ahead of the curve.
