The Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League has allowed young athletes to take part in the sport of hockey for 50 years.

To celebrate the league's 50th Anniversary, Rod Pedersen compiled and produced Heart & Soul Of The SJHL. The book was just released on December 10th as Pedersen was approached by the SJHL President in 2016 to write the book.

Heart and Soul Of The SJHL covers the 50-year history of the league as it includes the highlights of all 12 teams currently part of the league. Teams that have been defunct or relocated, such as the Lebret Eagles, Lloydminster Lancers, Minot Top Guns and many others are also mentioned. The book also contains a chapter on the Humboldt Broncos Bus Crash on April 6th.

"It talks about where the franchise will go in the years ahead after the tragedy. You have to understand, the Broncos are thought of in the hockey world as synonymous with class, success, and strength and so is the community," said Rod Pedersen.

The chapter consists of pictures and biographies of all the players and staff on the bus during the accident. It also tells the story of how the Broncos were founded, the building of the EPA, coaches that have gone through the organization, and much more Broncos history.

The book is available for purchase at the Broncos office and every other SJHL arena in the province up until Christmas. All the funds from the book go to the SJHL, its 12 teams, and the SJHL Assistance Fund for player’s mental health.
