For a building with a great History in the community of Humboldt, the opening of its newly renovated form did the heritage of the Elizabeth a great justice.

On Friday, November 16th, at the site of the former nuns convent the brand new retirement community held it's grand opening. The ribbon-cutting event was attended by residents of the Elizabeth, as well as local business owners and provincial and federal government representatives. The Elizabeth provided catering from their Red-Seal chef and crew, and it was a wonderful celebration of an idea coming to fruition, that fills a need within the community of Humboldt. Rob Muench, Mayor of Humboldt, was in high praise of the project upon its completion. "We were here less than a year ago for the ceremonial brick smashing, everything has come together so quickly," Muench continued "From the outside, it looks truly amazing, they have transformed it into something completely modernized while still keeping enough of the old elements, to pay tribute to the sisters and convent members that built this place."

Tyler Stewart, President of Stewart Properties, was the driving factor behind the idea of Agnes Pratchler. She wanted to effectively solve an issue that has been present in Humboldt for quite some time now; elevate the quality of life for seniors, and create an affordable space that is reflective of the city's heritage while still providing all the modern amenities of any quality retirement community. Tyler Stewart was very focused on keeping this a community-based project; not only did all his supplies and building materials come from local hardware suppliers, but he also hired an all-local crew for the renovation process. "From an efficiency standpoint, it was very helpful having everything we needed close to us, but it was our first priority right from the get-go, in collaboration with St Elizabeth's Place Inc. was to make sure this project was a mainly local one."

There were speeches from Mayor Rob Muench, as well as Paul Merriman, Minister of Social Services and Liane Dagenais, Affordable Housing Specialist. They all held the work of Stewart Properties in the highest regards and were all very aware of how much this will benefit the community of Humboldt. Agnes Pratchlers speech, however, garnered the most reaction from the crowd. Her generous address could be summed up best in the 3 words she went on to repeat 3 times- We Did It. All the speakers gave thanks to Agnes as well, for going above and beyond to help solve an issue in her community.

The Elizabeth will be a premier retirement community; it will be a great modernized facility that shows heritage to its roots.
