After the busy Christmas season, many food banks go through a bit of a lull by March.

Danielle Saretsky, owner of Curves in Humboldt, says she and her team have been running a month-long food drive in March for the past 16 or 17 years to help out the Humboldt Food Bank during the slow months.

This past March, Saretsky says they were able to collect over 700 lbs of food, through member donations and from the public.

"We're so excited to be doing something in the community. It's a way to give back into the community, to help the food bank and to fill their shelves again", says Saretsky.

This was a very successful year for Curves in Humboldt. The gym had a competition going between the Martensville Curves and Gimli, Manitoba Curves, and Humboldt were the winners, with the most food collected.

"We were so excited about that!" says Saretsky of the win.
