Advance polls open Friday for three provincial by-elections in Saskatchewan, including the Melfort constituency.

Three candidates will be on the ballot to replace Kevin Phillips, including the Saskatchewan Party's Todd Goudy, New Democrat Lorne Schroeder, and Green Party leader Shawn Setyo.

Tim Kydd with Elections Saskatchewan noted what you will need when you go to vote.

"You need to show ID and you need to be registered. The majority of voters are registered already, as we have that information from the general election."

Kydd says that by-elections typically have lower turnout than general elections, but they are still eager to welcome voters beginning with the advance polls.

There are three stations for advance polls in the Melfort riding:

  • Kerry Vickar Centre, Melfort
  • Naicam & District Senior Citizens Centre
  • Watson New Horizons

Polling is open from 3:00 to 10:00pm on Friday, 12:00 to 7:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, and again from 3:00 to 10:00pm on Monday and Tuesday.

Election day is on March 1.

The Melfort riding includes area communities such as St. Brieux, Lake Lenore, Watson, Naicam, and Quill Lake
