Affinity Credit Union has announced they will be closing their branch in Englefeld.

The branch will close in June so until then their employees will work closely with clients to help them through the process and identify their service options.

"The decision to close a branch is very difficult," Affinity Credit Union Chief Executive Officer Mark Lane stated in a news release. "While branches have historically been the centerpiece of a member's relationship with their credit union, that reality has changed. Members increasingly use other channels, particularly for transactional-based needs. Online and mobile banking are clearly preferred, and the credit union needs to adapt in terms of our investment in these channels."

They also said their branches in Gronlid and St. Loius will also close, overall 11 will be shut down across the province by the end of June.

Affinity also closed a dozen branches in 2015.
