Forest fires in northern Saskatchewan are starting to have smoke linger down.

Environment Canada has issued an air quality statement for parts of northeast and eastern Saskatchewan, advising that elevated pollution levels are currently occurring, or expected.

The advisory is out for the Rural Municipalities of Lake Lenore, Barrier Valley, Bjorkdale and Three Lakes, including the communities of St. Brieux, Middle Lake and St. Benedict.

As wind turns in a southeast direction throughout Wednesday, Environment Canada says that the smoke will move back towards the north as the day goes on.

The advisory states that reduced visibility and poor air quality may last into Thursday.
