Crop Production Services of Calgary has been fined $140,000 by the Government of Saskatchewan for a workplace incident that resulted in an employee losing his hand.

The Alberta-based business plead guilty to one charge of failing to provide an effective safeguard where a worker may contact a dangerous moving part of a machine.

Charges were laid in the incident which took place on April 30, 2014 near the community of Elstow - 90 kilometres southwest of Humboldt between Colonsay and Clavet.

The employee had his left hand amputated after it became tangled in a conveyor system.
