It was another uneventful court appearance for a Regina man facing charges of sexual exploitation, invitation to sexual touching and possession of child pornography Monday morning in Humboldt.

24 year-old Nathan Michael Labatt was an active volunteer with a number of youth groups within the Roman Catholic church, the Ukrainian catholic church and Scouts Canada, he also attended various youth camps, retreats, and other events with these organizations in the province over the past five years.

Labatt was arrested in January after the Lanigan RCMP received a complaint of inappropriate text messages between a teenage boy and the alleged suspect.

His matters were set over until October 19th back in Humboldt Provincial Court.

 

The case of a Kylemore man facing a number of charges including sexual assault was on the Wynyard court docket on Friday.

49 year-old Vincent Alex Desjarlais is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference of a person under 16, procuring miscarriage and assault.

The police say they were informed of an assault on a person under 16 years-old by a health care worker in May of 2014.

His matters were adjourned until December 21st for a preliminary hearing in Wynyard, he remains in custody.

Desjarlais was arrested in May on the Fishing Lake First Nation after evading police since May of last year.
