As another hockey season approaches, tributes to the Humboldt Broncos continue to appear around our province.
One of the latest is found on the 16th tee at the Harbor Golf and Country Club in Elbow. The tee box overlooks the shores of Lake Diefenbaker and is the home to a new tribute bench created by Nick Pausen.
The bench is crafted from 17 unique hockey sticks, including a stick from the late Adam Herold who died in the Humboldt Bronco bus crash of April 6, 2018.
Braden Holtby, the goaltender of the Stanley Cup Champion Washington Capitals also donated a stick for the bench, along with former NHL’ers Mike Sillinger, and Darrin Mckechnie.
Other notable local players gave sticks to complete the bench.
The Harbor Golf and Country Club is located 220 south-west of Humboldt in Elbow.
