On April 24, BHP announced the recipients of the Jansen Potash Project’s 2019 High School Scholarship Program. Eighteen graduating secondary students and returning post-secondary students from the area near the Jansen Potash Project shared in $75,000 in scholarships.$2,500 each went to students from eight Horizon Division schools while ten youth from regional First Nations communities netted scholarships totalling $30,000.

“Education and skills development is the key to future prosperity and success” said Giles Hellyer, Potash President. “We couldn’t be more pleased to provide some financial assistance for these local and Indigenous students and wish them all the best in the next stage of their studies.”

The scholarship program is administered by Carlton Trail College who partners with BHP in the initiative.

Our partnership with BHP is truly win-win,” said Deanna Gaetz, Business and Skills Training Manager with Carlton Trail College. “Beyond the administrative support we’re able to provide, our strong presence as an education and training provider means we can connect BHP to interested and motivated youth within the region, helping to develop a highly skilled, future workforce.”

The program began in 2013, and since then, BHP has awarded $452,000 in scholarships to over 160 students.
