A $98,000 fine has been handed down to Olysky Limited Partnership or Big Sky Farms for a violation of occupational health and safety legislation.

Olysky pleaded guilty on March 21 in Humboldt Provincial Court to one count of failing to ensure that the operator of equipment use a seat belt or restraining device.

The charges stem from an incident where a worker was thrown from the cab of a tractor.

The April 23rd, 2014 workplace fatality occurred near Burr.

All operators are required to be trained to safely operate equipment before use by OHS legislation.

Employers carry the most responsibility in workplace safety because they have control and authority over the place of employment.
