Humboldt Broncos' Captain, Graysen Cameron, is continuing his hockey career and academic pursuit south of the border.

On April 26, Cameron announced his commitment to the Northland College LumberJacks in Ashland, Wisconsin, an NCAA Division III program.

Cameron was one of 29 members of the 2017/18 Humboldt Broncos team who were on the bus at the time of the crash on April 6, 2018. His injuries sustained from the accident prevented him from playing hockey during the 2018/19 season. However, his work ethic, determination, and sheer love of the game paved the way for his return to the ice in a green and gold Broncos' jersey for his final year.

“His perseverance speaks for itself. Having had a great relationship with Darcy (Former Broncos' Head Coach, Darcy Haugan) and growing friendship with Scott (Current Broncos' Head Coach Scott Barney), we know the character men they have and want in their locker room, and Graysen is one of those exemplary human beings," said Seamus Gregory, Head Coach and Athletic Director of Northland College Men's Hockey Program. "This process has been evolving since last September, but upon travelling to Humboldt in late February and spending some time with Grayson and Coach Barney, we knew we needed him here wearing the orange and blue."

Cameron finished with 13 points (5g, 8a) and 128 penalty minutes in 46 games played in his final year with the Broncos, but his role went much deeper than just on-ice production. The Humboldt Broncos entered and finished the 2019/20 season as the youngest team in the SJHL. Cameron's leadership qualities instilled respect throughout the locker room. It instilled a way of approaching the game and a way of committing yourself to your teammates, your coaches, and the community that will run through the green and gold locker room for years to come.

"He’s a selfless player, plays a hard two-way game and is committed to continuing his development. We talked a lot about family and his future, we could not be more excited he will be attending Northland College. He is a credit to his family, teammates, coaches past and present, and of course himself. We are extremely proud to have him."

Cameron's #9 is now retired by the Humboldt Broncos organization and he'll join his former teammates up in the rafters of the Elgar Peterson Arena. His hockey journey, however, surely doesn't end here. The Broncos' captain will now take his talents, and more importantly, the intangible qualities that make him the type of person he is, down south to Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin.
