While they look to stay strong on the ice, off the ice, the Humboldt Broncos are aiming to keep a stable financial situation.

One of the team's annual fundraisers kicks off Friday night following their game against the Weyburn Red Wings.

Business Manager Chris Beaudry says that the player auction and shootout is always a highlight.

"We auction them off, and whoever you think will win in a shootout is the person you try to bid on and buy," he explained. "After the game Saturday, we have the shootout, and whoever has the top three players, they will win a payout."

Beaudry says that half of the cash kicked in through the auction is paid back to the bidders, while the remainder goes to the team.

Last year's auction brought in over $15,000 for the organization.

On February 15, the club will be auctioning off special game worn jerseys through Bruce Schapansky Auctioneers.

This season, the team added a gold jersey to their look, and now fans will have the chance to own the exclusive piece of merchandise, says Beaudry.

"You will be able to go on to their website and bid on your favourite player's jersey. That will run until March 3, but there will also be a set price, allowing you to buy the jersey immediately."

The annual lottery of cash will soon follow the auctions as well.

With the season winding down, and the Broncos in a playoff spot, they will be looking to capitalize on any chance they can to bring in additional revenue through home playoff games.

Beaudry says that attendance at games this season has been good, but they're always hoping to see more people out supporting the team.

"It would be great to see a packed house this weekend. We have two great sponsors in Century 21 and Scotiabank."

He added that the two games are critical in the standings as well, with Weyburn only five points behind Humboldt.
