The Humboldt Broncos hit the highway on November 29 for something other than a hockey game.

The team traveled to Cudworth to skate on the new artificial ice surface, and to visit a legendary face of the organization's history.

Elgar Petersen, a name that goes hand-in-hand with the Broncos, was pleased to see players and coaches from this year's team head out for the visit.

Head Coach Darcy Haugan says that it was an important day for the team to take part in.

"I think it's a lesson for all of us in general, we're all kind of guilty of not really taking time for people that mean a lot in our lives. We get caught up with the hecticness of our day-to-day lives and forget about all the relationships and the people we come in contact with and the impact we can have on our community by spending time with friends and family."

"It was something special, for sure," added Haugan.

Petersen, who turns 82 in January, was a member of the inaugural Broncos team in 1970, serving as trainer and equipment manager.
