Cherries were the main course in Bruno on Sunday, as the ever popular Cherry Sunday took place once again.

Everything from cherry sauce on pancakes to cherry sundaes and smokies were available to indulge in.

There was also a U-Pick, allowing anyone to bring a four litre pail to fill up for only ten dollars.

"Coming and sitting in the sun, listening to the entertainment all day and enjoying the good food with cherry sundaes," said one veteran festival supporter.

"I like the camaraderie that goes on. It brings people to our community that ordinarily would never come to Bruno. We are grateful they do, and it's a great day so everyone can enjoy it," chimed in another.

The annual cherry day was first held in 2003 and has received outstanding feedback ever since.

Perhaps the best part of Cherry Sunday, is the wide range of ages it brings together. With the set-up of the day, it allows for everyone to have fun, including the younger crowd.

"Seeing all the people I know and all my friends, the train, the bouncy castle, the face-painting and all the fun games," said one young man on his favourite things.

As the festival continues to grow, so to does the crowd. Each year, word spreads about Cherry Sunday, meaning more first timers heading to the central Saskatchewan town.

"Entertainment is excellent for a small community. It was our first time coming and the breakfast, everything was good."

Throughout the afternoon, local singers and dancers kept the atmosphere buzzing.

Entertainers included Laneise Scharback, Brookelynn Tetzlaff, Hailey Manderscheid, Ethyn Beggs, The Rileys, The Andersons, Aiden Wolfe, Shawnda Swenson, Broken Roads and Ken and Crew.

For those who missed out on Cherry Sunday, the orchard is open seven days a week for picking.
