One woman from Bruno is taking it all off the top to support the Prairie Women on Snowmobiles and their 2017 ride.

Kendel Bodnarchuk shaved her head and has raised $1,000 in support of the women riding around the province for six days.

She says that it was an opportunity to give back.

"I saw the poster and just wanted to do something for them. I decided that my hair goes crazy, so I thought this was something simple I can do for them."

Bodnarchuk's hair dresser, Kathryn Kramer, shaved her head on Monday morning.

Cancer is typically a rallying point for many people to help defeat, due to its large impact. That was true for Bodnarchuk in raising funds for the PWOS.

"I've lost a couple of family members to cancer and I am sure that everyone who has donated has had someone pass away from cancer," she said. "This is something I want to do to help anyone suffering from this disease."

The first ride with PWOS took place in 2001, and has been ongoing since, with six days of travel and a mission to find a cure for breast cancer.

Bodnarchuk has one simple message for those looking to say thanks.

"Donate. Everyone who has the ability to do it or the funds to do it, just donate and help the cause. These women are pretty special."

Among the ten riders taking part this year is Arlene Lockinger from Humboldt. Lockinger and her ride mates will be stopping in Humboldt for a banquet Tuesday night.

Tickets are $20, with the banquet taking place at the Bella Vista Inn.

Funds support the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency through the Canadian Cancer Society to assist with early detection and equipment.
