The business side of art is the focus Wednesday night at the Humboldt and District Art Gallery.

Artists will learn how to establish themselves as professionals in the art community at the business of art workshop.

This is a very beneficial workshop for all artists explained Cultural Programmer, Nicole Myker.

"I think it's important for artists to realize that their art work is valuable and so are there rights too as well, so that's why we want them to fully understand contracts, and copyrights, and insurance, and how to properly present themselves as a person who has a business."

Registration for the workshop that gets underway at 7pm is still open, call the gallery at 682-5226.

"All artists of all different levels, you can be just a beginning artist or one that is very well known, it will just help you polish up your resume and understand the importance of being an artist and what you are capable of doing," explained Myker.

The Business of Art workshop will focus on how to approach public and commercial art galleries, as well as guidelines on preparing a portfolio and resume.

The gallery will also have workshops later on in the month on mixed media and oil painting for beginners.

More from Myker can be heard in her full interview with Bolt FM's Angie Dukart below.
