A change to the City of Humboldt's traffic bylaw that now states residents can't park trailers, motor homes and RV's within two metres of city owned sidewalks is causing a stir.

As seen on a post on the ever popular Facebook page, "Roses and Raspberries" a number of residents are unhappy with the changes especially since they say they weren't informed about the change that occurred during council's April 25th meeting.

Most complainants are coming from RV or trailer owners who say their driveways aren't big enough to keep two metres back. A petition is now being passed around the city with tentative plans to present the signatures to council.

The city cites the changes as safety measures for reasons such as children on sidewalks and site lines for drivers.

Most bylaw changes are advertised in the local newspaper although not all have to be. This change has been discussed during a number of committee meetings as well as it's been advertised through the City of Humboldt's media channels including the agendas and minutes from every council meeting.

Meetings, which occur every second and fourth Monday of the month are also open to the public to view for transparency purposes. Bylaws are amended and created at meetings consistently over the year.
