Rick Cadrain has been fighting fires for a quarter century, and on Friday he was recognized by the province for his outstanding service.

A member of the Humboldt Fire Department, Cadrain is among the newest recipients of the Saskatchewan Protective Services Medal.

"Saskatchewan is truly blessed to have such dedicated individuals, who day in and day out, work hard to make our province a safer and better place," said Provincial Secretary Nadine Wilson. "Thank you for your quarter century of service."

Wilson was on hand along with Lieutenant Governor Vaughn Solomon Schofield to present the medals in Prince Albert.

The medal recognizes those with 25 years or more of service protecting Saskatchewan people and/or their property.

Established in 2003, recipients of the medal have included firefighters, police officers, corrections workers, Canadian Armed Forces members, conservation officers, deputy sheriffs, Canada Border Services Agency officers and emergency medical responders.
