The building process of a new playground in Humboldt is nearing completion.

Carl Schenn Park is getting a new addition this year.

Humboldt Citizens for Better Playgrounds has fund raised enough money to add a toddler play structure next to the pre-existing play structure in Carl Schenn Park.

Kelly Soderholm from Humboldt Citizens for Better Playgrounds describes how the building process is going.

"It's going very well. It'll be done now this year. It's been a long three years, but it's been worth it. It's turned out great."

This all started from three women, Kelly along with Carmen Fraser and Dianne Nordick, wanting a safe place to play for kids in the community.

But Kelly explains why this park is especially important.

"It's important for us to redo this park because we wanted it for all ages and all abilities to play here. It is wheelchair accessible, so at this point it is the only one in Humboldt that is like that."

Kelly also says the new playground is already going over well.

"The kids are already enjoying it. Sometimes you can see 30 kids out here. The stuff we've been hearing about it, everyone's loving it, the parents are loving it, and they love the location and what it has to offer."

The entire structure has taken 3 years to complete.
