Saskatchewan High School Athletics Association proclaimed this week School Sports Week.

The proclamation was made last week by Gordon Wyant, Minister of Education for Saskatchewan. Students, coaches, and fans within the Horizon School Division will celebrate School Sports throughout this week.

School Sports week is a province-wide celebration in honour of the young athletes, coaches who commit countless minutes after work hours, referees, and loyal fans. Schools in the area will be taking part in multiple sports throughout the week to celebrate.

"Well, we have an amazing participation rate. When you look across the province we have amazing success, and you know we have a strong group of volunteer coaches who motivate the kids, We have strong communities, from our parents and schools," Said Brian Grest, Administrator of Student Activities for Horizon School Division.

Last year 73% of grade 6 to 12 students took part in at least 1 school activity with an average of 2 and a half activities per student.
