The federal government and Statistics Canada have released data information from the 2016 census.

After their rise to power in October 2015, the Liberal government announced they would be re-introducing the long-form census beginning in 2016.

Data was collected with a 98.4% response rate, and now the government will release results throughout the year in relation to age, gender, housing, and income, among other topics.

Population data was revealed on Wednesday, with the City of Humboldt showing a 3.4 percent boost. In 2011, the population was tabulated to be 5,678, with the latest data showing a total of 5,869 people living in the city.

Manitou Beach saw the largest percentage of growth for area communities at 22.2%, while Viscount saw the biggest drop at -26.6%.

The province of Saskatchewan is up 65,000 people from five years ago - or 6.3% - with 1,098,352 people.
