The Humboldt and District Hospital Foundation was on the receiving end of some funds from the Chamber of Commerce.

Over $3500 was leftover from a 2011 initiative to recruit more doctors to the City of Humboldt.

President of the Chamber, Andre Kruger talked about how they gathered the funds.

"We went out and canvased some of the businesses and the larger businesses and got some money, I think at that time the Chamber donated to this $5,000."

The committee had to put in quite a bit of work but the city currently has a sufficient amount of physicians and no longer has a doctor shortage said Kruger, "It was quite a competition between the various communities to attract doctors and that's why the chamber got together with a couple of other interested stakeholders to help with the recruitment to fill those positions that the health region thought was needed for the City of Humboldt."

The Humboldt Regional Doctor Recruitment and Retention committee dissolved in 2013 and all leftover funds were left in the hands of the Chamber after a sufficient number of doctors were recruited to the city.

The cheque total presented to the HDHF was $3,785.77 to assist physicians with patient care in the community.
