On Saturday, February 2nd, 2019, the Uniplex was the safest place to be in all of Humboldt.

The Emergency Services Charity Ball was taking place and saw over 250 taking in the supper and dance.

This was the biggest fundraiser event of the year for the emergency services group, and it was a great show of support not only to our first responders but to the community as well.

The 2018 Ambassador for Safety Individual Volunteer award winner was Phyllis Wassermann. The Community Service Partner Business Partner Award was presented to BHP, and The Community Service Partner Community Partner Award was awarded to the Bella Vista Inn.

Adare Guest with the RCMP gave us some detail about the reasoning behind the fundraiser, as well as a little history.

"This is our 13th annual fundraiser for the emergency services groups within Humboldt. We have this every year to raise funds for the groups, as well as say thanks to everyone involved."

Guest also talked about the underlying importance of the event.

"I think it is very important, this is not only a night for the services but the whole town to come out, and see us in a different setting. As well, it allows us to thank the community and its members."

Starting at around 5:30, supper was proceeded by live entertainment from Humboldt's own 40 Oz. Philosophy.
