City council met for their regular meeting on Monday, July 26th.

Mayor Rob Muench expressed his appreciation for the volunteers, staff , and local organizations that were involved in the success of the Humboldt Summer Sizzler. He also acknowledged the 2017 Humboldt Sports Hall of Fame Night of Champions that was held over the past weekend. 

Councillor Behiel commended MacDonald's for their participation in cleaning around the builidng and along the business block.

Council took in a report from the city clerk which summarized the results of a petition opposing the 14th street local improvement program which would pave 14th street from 1st avenue north to south and 3rd avenue to 1st avenue. This project was later on approved in the meeting.

Council also accepted for information that SaskTel LTE service for Humboldt is being upgraded in July.

Other information was accepeted from the Central Area Transportation Planning Committee.

Council approved area rates and policies document for use of arena and curlling rink. They also approved the Iniplex Disciplinary policy along with the uniplex equipment and furniture rental policy.

City Manager Roy Hardy updated council on the anticipated landfill levy, the total cost for the city being $900,000.

A report from the finance director indicated the city remains on budget for 2017.

Tenders were also authorized for work around the city; and administration was authorized to spend $110,600 on additional concret projects.
