With the warmer temperatures around the corner, the city will be paying close attention to the conditions of the outdoor rink to determine a date of closure.

So far no date has been announced when the outdoor rink will be off limits for use. However, the city does request that skaters refrain from using it when temperatures are in the positive.

"This time of year is very fluid, it all depends on the conditions. We will be monitoring it a lot closer as opposed to winter, and try to provide updates to the city whenever possible. Typically if we know the sun is going to be out and beating down on the ice turning it a little more slushy, then we ask that people stay off during the day until the evenings when it gets a little cooler.  We don't want it getting to the point where it's getting closer to the gravel base, so that's one of the things we will be monitoring," said Director of Community and Leisure Services, Mike Ulriksen.

Temperatures of this week are expected to be right around zero degrees, but the evening temperatures should still remain in the minus, giving citizens a few more chances to head out and skate around.
