'Tis the season...pothole season.

Director of Public Works and Utilities, Peter Bergquist says city crews are preparing to fill in potholes and will prioritize problem areas as they begin patching. As the ground warms, the city also sites the possibility of a few more water-main breaks. Residents can also report problem streets and neighbourhoods via the Humboldt connect app.

Bergquist also reminds residents that sump pumps must be pumped outside homes and not directly into internal drains to the sewer. The city also recommends that as yards thaw, positioning sump pump hoses to drain directly onto lawns to soak, rather than directly onto driveway pads and the street or alleys, will help avoid saturation.

Bergquist also adds that street sweeping will begin right away, starting with the downtown core and throughout the rest of the city with regular street sweeping schedules in May.
