The City of Humboldt is now offering an option to those who want an alternative to in-ground burials.

A columbarium is a free standing above ground structure that is constructed of solid granite and allows for 48 niche units, with each having the ability to house two urns.

Each unit comes with a bronze door plaque engraved with the name and dates of loved ones and is included in the cost of the unit.

'There has been plenty of interest for the columbariums in Humboldt.' said Kathleen Kleiter with Cemetery Records.

There are 3 columbariums currently in Humboldt. One is in the public cemetery and two are at St. Augustine. The cost of a columbarium unit is 1,550. and interested residents should contact City Hall for more details.
