On Thursday the Community and Leisure Services Department will hold a Summer Sizzler and Canada Day Community Consultation.

Community Leisure Services Director Mike Ulrikson tells us what he hopes to get out of it.

"Basically it's an invitation to the general public to come out, come give their feedback and input on how they would like to see those two events evolve over time. This year we had some input back in the spring leading up to this year's events. So we want to give a more public and open opportunity for people to bring their opinions."

He notes that the event is open to anyone who wants to come.

"It's completely wide open to anyone who wants to attend. Whether it's just an individual who has attended the event in the past and wants to give some feedback, we're interested in knowing where our thoughts are moving forward. Also, any organizations that might be interested in being involved as well."

Ulrikson adds that they want the opportunity for a more formal Consultation.

"We can talk all we want through Facebook and in one-on-one conversations and phone calls. But I think bringing everyone together in the same space will provide an opportunity for some better dialogue, better opinions, better sharing, and some better outcomes in the long run."

The Consultation will take place at 7 pm on Thursday in meeting room 3 of the Uniplex.
