Burton Lake Trail is getting prepared for a revamp.

Humboldt City Manager Joe Day says that the allocated council budget of $10, 000 will soon be funding a clean-up of the trail, despite some recent confusion regarding the budget needing to be matched in dollar value from another source.

"It was already in the 2018 budget. Council agreed that we should go ahead and spend it (allocated funds) even if we haven't been able to identify any matching funds."

Day says the plan to use the funds for trail improvements will start this year by keeping the trails clean, clear, weeded and maintaining the  'right of way'.

"Next year we can develop it further, and either seed some grass or bring in some gravel and do more work," says Day.
