The town of Cudworth has become a tourist destination and has been put on the "must-see" list of tourists from as far away as Florida, New York, and Germany this summer.

The Wheatland Express train has been operating excursions from the town, with passengers boarding from the museum (which was the old train station).  It has encouraged visitors to delight in the splendor of the Saskatchewan prairies in a nostalgic way.

"It's allowed us to showcase our town," says the mayor of Cudworth, Elaine Olexson. She adds, "I see many more opportunities as it progresses into the future."

Olexson says the town is very excited to be a part of the project and says she's seen a boost in the local economy because of it. The town hall has been busier, as have restaurants, and the campground.

The addition of the Wheatland Express operation this summer has also provided jobs for residents of Cudworth, and Olexson says she sees more opportunities for economic growth in the future.

Each excursion is unique, and the season will see nine more before the last one departs on October 6th.
