A group of volunteers took their day on Monday to network and learn some tricks about how to improve their local organizations that they give their attention to.

Spearheaded by the Prairie Central District for Sport, Culture and Recreation, the day long workshop was help at the Humboldt and District Art Gallery.

PCDSCR Community Consultant Emma Morris spoke more about the initiative.

"We're here today to meet with anyone in the region who is interested in culture or works in culture or volunteers or anything like that to just kind of get together and come up with some ideas. We heard from SaskCulture this morning and we also had a training opportunity this afternoon on volunteer recruitment which is something we always have trouble with."

A round table discussion covered topics such as challenges and successes that communities have when it comes to volunteers and certain projects plus how to plan for future endeavours.

"I think they came here today just because it was a great opportunity to meet with each other and hopefully hear from the organization's representatives and how we can help each other and build some partnerships and share some information," Morris continued."

Morris said this was the first time they have went to this length in hosting such an event with hopefully more in the works but for now they will turn their attention to Culture Days which is a three day province wide celebration in late September.
