High visibility check stops have been conducted throughout December by members of the Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan Central Region Unit.

On December 19th, 175 drivers were stopped and checked at a check stop on Highway 5 near Humboldt.

The stop resulted in one 72 hour suspension for marijuana use, one charge of impaired driving while suspended, two charges of open liquor, and four drivers were tested for alcohol and all passed.

The check stops were held elsewhere in the province including Rosetown, Kindersley, Blaine Lake, and Saskatoon area highways.

RCMP officers on hand at the check stops handed out candy canes to the majority of the motorists they encountered.
