Decoration Day in a national observation that has been taking place in Humboldt for many years.

Rev. Al Hingley, with the Humboldt Legion, explained what Decoration Day is.

"In June as close to D Day, which is June 6th, we have the Sunday of Decoration Day and this is when we say thank you to those veterans who came back to us and since been deceased we go to their grave with a Canadian flag."

Matilda Janson, 90 years of age, whose husband is buried in the cemetery has become accustomed to attending the ceremonies.

The Veterans Plot in the public cemetery is now filled with Canadian flags as a symbol of thanks and remembrance.

The day concludes with a light lunch put on by the Ladies Auxillary and some fellowship at the Legion.
