Saskatchewan Conservation Officers are asking for tips after a mule deer was found left to waste south of Watrous.

The deer was left behind near Penzance. Conservation Officer Rich Hildebrand says it appears the deer was shot the night of December 2.

"They found this mule deer had been shot about 50 yards off the grid road and had been shot in the neck. It seemed to have been shot at the end of the day at the end of the whitetail deer season."

The fact that it was the wrong species for the season that was open and that the animal was left to waste is why CO's are looking for the culprit.

SaskTip is offering a $2000 cash reward for help in solving this case and you can click here for more details on how to submit a tip.

In November, the SaskTip line helped track down a poacher from St. Brieux who left a moose to waste in January.
