After rain took over last year's derby, the sun is expected to shine on the 2016 edition.

For the 45th time, cars will be crashing into one another on Saturday afternoon, as JCI Humboldt hosts their demolition derby.

The annual tradition as part of the Summer Sizzler will take place beginning at 4:00pm at the derby grounds located southwest of the Uniplex.

JCI Vice-President Andrew Cohen says that the crowd always makes it a lively event.

"Definitely a good time, the atmosphere is always hopping as well," he said. "Come on out and enjoy some refreshments."

Cohen added that you can expect to see a pair of different classifications of cars competing.

"The eight cylinder and the four cylinder. Two different types of cars and two different types of entertainment too. It's fun to see both kind of cars go at it in those two categories."

Prizes will be handed out to winners of derby events.

On Friday night, the Jaycees are hosting a cabaret that serves as a primer to Saturday's derby. Longshot will be playing a show, with the cabaret beginning at 9:30pm.
