It didn't take much convincing when it came to encouraging Humboldt and area residents, and visitors from all over the prairies, to get a head start on Christmas and gift shopping this year.

The Humboldt uniplex was host to a flurry of excitement as shoppers of all ages flocked to the arena for the 29th annual Humboldt and District Kinette Fall Craftshow and Marketplatz on Sunday. The sale featured a total of 90 vendors showcasing their wares ranging from crafts, pottery, quilts, jewelry, handmade gifts, body and bath products and so much more. The craftshow has become a must-visit destination for shoppers, anxious to get a head start on gift shopping for themselves and their loved ones.

Colleen Fennig, the coordinator for the annual Kinette fundraising venture, explains the growing attraction over the years to both vendors and shoppers alike. "We (Kinettes) sell the tables to local vendors, but this year, we've had people come from Alberta and Manitoba, so we're getting pretty famous!", Fenning proudly exclaims. She says, "(shoppers) come to expect it in the community and the vendors want to come back every year because they just think it's fantastic."

Beautiful, unique items were a feast for the eyes and nose, and there was something for people of all ages. There were interactive demos and activities for youngsters, allowing them to join in the crafting fun. Brother and sister, Brady and Bailey Shapka, of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, were excited when asked what they liked best about the show. Brady, 4, said his favourite part was "painting my dinosaur!!!", as he proudly presented his self-painted ceramic tyrannosaurus rex figure. His sister Bailey, 9, said, "My favourite part was colouring the pillows and putting my name in the raffle!".

All proceeds from the table rentals and raffle ticket sales for vendor-donated prizes go towards the Kinette organization, from there, right back into the Humboldt and area community.
