There is a good chance Humboldt and area could see some severe thunderstorms Monday afternoon and into the evening.

Terri Laing with Environment Canada says the best thing to do in situations like this, is keep an eye on the sky.

"The number one thing is that people should be aware that the possibility exists and have that on there mind when they go about their activities and always have a plan to sort of abort those plans if the weather is headed south."

A low pressure system from Alberta is moving into the province, bringing the storms with it.

Laing says there isn't any certainty where the storms will hit, "we can give a generalized area but exactly where those big storms are going to be is hard to pin down, the area at most danger seems to be towards the northern grain belt."

The system will also bring with it some lower temperatures for Tuesday and Wednesday.

A severe thunderstorm watch was issued for Humboldt on Monday morning at 10:30am which includes Carmel, Fulda, Jansen, Muenster, Lake Lenore, Lanigan, Drake, and Guernsey, Watson, Wadena, and Wynyard.

Much of the province is under the thunderstorm watch. Residents are being reminded that this could mean damaging winds, hail and torrential rain. Severe thunderstorms can also produce tornadoes.
